Five Lines
1971 | Brooklyn, New York
Oak | H: 24/61 W: 149/378 D: 15/38 (in/cm)

The piece was made at the same time that Six Lines System was completed and uses scavenged planks from along the railroad tracks. It takes the crosshatching idea from the painting process and applies it to sculpture making. Each of the five planks must completely insect the other four at some point with no double overlaps. Setting this control for this piece made the construction difficult. Consequently, the composition is compact in the extreme.
