Backswing The Baltic birch works were usually made from two eccentric flat pieces of wood, painted before hand, often scrap. The pieces were reduced by cutting thin concentric rings with a band saw or scroll saw, about 3/8th inch thick, stacked, epoxied, and nail together. Very little bending or stressing of the wood was done. The over all shape is always incidental to the work. The piece suggests its own title. |
