The message in the background reads, “The latest atomic clock, one of the mechanisms that maintain international time standards, will keep time within a second of accuracy during the next three million years.” The three cornucopiae are intertwined in a loose knot. The respelling of “wisdom” occurred to the artist after attending a John Cage happening at Barnard College in 1986. Cage said, “Things are really whizzing by” and repeated the famous Taoist truth, “Those who know don’t say, those who say don’t know.”
