These oil-on-paper drawings began as part of a new Venture Piece in which the Venture designs would be painted onto two mahogany planks, then cut up and reassembled, as with other works in the Venture sculpture series. These 15 drawings, however, soon grew into a new exploration of the abstract Venture language and became works in their own right and in their own medium, not to be painted onto mahogany, cut, and reassembled.
