Nickel used nailing strips from his painting process to stretch strings over glass. He poured polyester resin over the strings to fix them in position. The resin gave opacity to the glass in a very nice way, Nickel recalled, but the glass later cracked and the piece was destroyed. The strings at the lower left corner were free of the resin and formed a contrast as they became embedded over the glass.
